Australian MPs Were 'Jealous' Of PM Modi's Popularity, Says Leader Of Opposition Peter Dutton

Australian leader of the opposition Peter Dutton this week said that Australian politicians were ‘jealous’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi referring to the reception he received from diaspora Indians earlier this week at a mega event in Sydney.

“Australian politicians were jealous of the fact that Prime Minister Modi was able to get 20,000 people to chant his surname, I said it to Prime Minister Modi this morning,” Dutton said.

Have to agree atleast Australian government acknowledge the sheer scale & legendary status of PM Modi. Even most of Australian news outlets were positive towards the event loved it. Especially because usa & west generally spread negative false comments after modi's visit.

I have been in Australia for over 35 years and I have never seen closer relationship between Australia (a country I adopted, grew up in and have been living in) and India (country of my birth). Great collaboration, diplomacy and international relations on both side to develop such close relationship. It is extraordinary and have really accelerated since Modi became a PM back in 2014. On Australian side, from Rudd to Morison to Dutton to Albanese - it’s great to see extraordinary bi-partisanship on this one topic.
