The Best Keycap Profile for Gaming

Switches are the most commonly talked about in terms of mechanical keyboard customization but you can also get custom keycaps. In this video I will be testing three different keycap profiles, OEM, Cherry, and DSA, and see which one I think is the best for gaming.

Make sense. In gaming, you need to switch between different attacking keys quickly while pressing and holding the direction keys (wsad) simultaneously. Low-profile (shorter) key caps should make the process easier than high-profile ones. Thanks for the video. It does change my mind of purchasing :)

you are right bout keycap height on OEM, thats the reason i prefer cherry profile as well. the enjoypbt 9009 set is legendary. nice review

It took me a few weeks to get used to DSA.
I agree with your analysis... especially when you switch. But I feel i have adapted to DSA by now.

Would be good to note that not Cherry profile keycaps don't fit most north-facing switches.

Hey, thanks for review. As I can see from side view, the gap between keycaps and keyboard is bigger with cherry profile comparing cherry and oem. Does it mean that oem keycaps are taller than cherry, but they sit deeper into keyboard? ANd the overall height is the same? Thanks

honestly it just comes down to preference, currently I am using SA keycaps which are about as big and tall as it gets and it really has made a difference from my old cherry profile keyboard

Have you tried SA keycaps for gaming? I really like the shape of it, but concern whether its comfortable for long gaming sessions.

That profile has a larger surface area than DSA.
