Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Review | One Month Later...

Reviewing the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 after one month, to see if this fresh Wear OS 3 device is one of the best smartwatches of 2021. This 40mm version is more compact than the 44mm and Classic models, already one of my favourites for design, with smart fitness tracking and a gorgeous screen. However, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 does suffer from mediocre battery life, same as rivals like the Apple Watch.

This smartwatch is the first to use Google's new Wear OS 3 interface, albeit with a heavy Samsung influence. You've got full Play Store access, so you can download fresh faces, apps and other shenanigans. But most of the services on here come from the Korean giant, including Pay, Bixby etc.

The Galaxy Watch 4 doesn't have the same physical rotating bezel as the Classic, but the specs and features are otherwise mostly the same. While the battery life limits you to a day of use per charge unless you hack those tools, you get plenty of fitness tracking shiz to stay healthy. But ECG is for Galaxy phone owners only, and there's no iPhone support just yet.

I like how he made that effort to hold his fist up the entire time but in a way we can't actually really even see the watch

I've watched several of this guy's reviews. I enjoy his cheeky banter and his coverage of the devices he reviews. I have the Gear S3 Frontier, the Galaxy Watch (2018), and now the Galaxy Watch 4 44mm Silver edition. I found the Watch 4 to be sleeker and more comfortable to wear and really don't miss the rotating bezel. My wrist is just under 7 inches so the 44mm looks just fine. The Gear and Galaxy Watch are both 46 mm.

If you're worried about battery life, make sure to get one of the bigger models. I've used the 44mm version for a few weeks now, and while it's true that battery life won't blow you away, it's nowhere near as bad as the Apple watch. You can expect just under two days before needing to charge again (AOD off). One day if you're using AOD, and even less if you're using LTE all the time. If you're always connected to your phone via bluetooth (with Wifi/LTE off, no AOD, auto brightness on and the heart rate set to manual rather than constant monitoring), you'll get a solid two days no problem. This is with the larger models only.

I watched another review of these watches and the YouTuber compared the body composition function against a professional BC scale thingy at a local gym and his own one at home and found that the watch was pretty accurate as it gave similar figures to the professional scale, and his scale at home was quite different.

Finally, a youtuber that knows how to wear a watch(over the wrist bone). It really became a rarity. Subscribed!

I've had the GW4C 46mm for 3 weeks and wifey's had her GW4 40mm for 2 weeks. So far the pros outweigh the cons for both of us. As class-A couch potatoes the watches have motivated us to get off our arses a bit more (not because the watch told us we were fat bastards, because we knew that anyway, but because we had to justify spaffing out over $500 for glorified sundials). They may not be the most accurate but they are indicative.

Finally a reviewer who doesn't give a fuck that the W4 won't work with an apple device. Neither do I. Good video. Looking forward to the W4 Classic review

I bought the Watch4 in silver 44mm which had a fantastic screen but looks very sporty but is solid on better and quality. I swapped it to the Classic 42mm which does had a noticeably smaller screen but looks very smart as the casing is a shiny steel.

In my opinion, the Galaxy Watch4 is the sportier version out of the two until you fit it with a leather strap and a classic watch face. Then it becomes the more classic out of the two models, because of it's cleaner / slimmer design.

I think it's great that you're reviewing it after a month instead of less than a week like most reviewers.

At 1:41 in the video, you state 5 Meters water resistant but think you may have been confused between ATM readings which is 5 ATM, that converts to 50 Meters... Bit like a ruler for measuring CM an MM etc

The 40mm face watch is £150 now on Curry's and with Samsung (after blue light discount) I could get it for £118. Worth it in 2023?
