I'd rather walk round London with a nail in my foot that go shopping on a Boxing Day

Society has become conditioned to accept a materialistic mindset - the initial excitement of making a purchase soon wears off and we accumulate more 'time-saving' devices that break-down and require maintenance - we dress up in nice clothes to improve the superficial appearance, yet rarely pay attention to the inner person that needs spiritual growth.

I ended up right there in Westfield one year because I was working Boxing day and had to do some work in the hotel. Hundreds and hundreds of people walking round the place. slack-jawed and vacant, looking for something to buy to fill the gaping hole where their soul used to be.
I don't get Boxing day sales at all. You've just spent the last month buying piles of sh*t for everyone you know with money you don't have any more. What shall we do on Boxing Day? Let's do some MORE shopping and see if we can make our credit card melt....

That looks like my absolute worst nightmare. Unhappy people thinking that shopping makes them happy, but it's making them unhappier, spending money they don't have buying things they don't need. It's true....

I don't know how we can come back from this.

Is there another London somewhere? Or is this the one we used to have?

All the normal people sat at home after eating, drinking and having a fantastic day yesterday celebrating Christmas Day 🎉

Christmas no longer feels like christmas. Used to be a few days of peace. Everything stopped. Local shops opened christmas days. Oh, how nice it would be for everything to stop. 🎉

... What happened to hangovers, dressing gowns, squashing down cardboard and eating turkey sandwiches and chocolates?

What a time to be alive.

What ever happened to relaxing at home with your family, this is so sad AND because there's so much demand for shops to be open, the shop workers don't get a boxing day off.
4 days a year shops shouldn't be open - Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve, Christmas day and Boxing day (and maybe new years day)

Absolute madness. What is it that attracts thousands to these premises on Boxing Day getting them to spend money they can't afford on stuff they don't need? It was just as bad in supermarkets a few days ago with trollies piled high with more food than you can ever eat a lot of which will be in the bin when folks panic over use-by dates.

It's become a very sad society in modern times and I don't like it one bit. What is all this madness on boxing day?

Someone I know once told me….”only working classes, lower middle classes wannabes go shopping in a mall on Boxing Day…no middle upper class or upper class person would ever venture shopping into the madness of shops on Boxing day….purest expression of class you belong to….ask someone if they went shopping on boxing day” 😂 I always remembered that guy

Can people not give retail staff the day off? I wouldn't be seen here for anything.
