I love how they named the missiler after Odins Spear that never missed 😊

To understand the design of RBS 15 you need to take some things into consideration:
– Most of the thinking about this weapon so far was done either during the Cold War when Sweden was neutral or non-aligned, or during the post Soviet era (before Sweden joined NATO).
– Consequently, it's designed to defend Sweden primarily.
– Sweden has tons of archipelagos with tons of islands (apparently no country has more islands...) So moving slowly, being able to hug or round all these islands was likely deemed more important than high speed... especially if the target sits among all those islands as well...
– Giving it the range to hit Moscow or Beijing or Washington would likely raise more eyebrows and cause more "political discussions" than is needed in order to defend Sweden.
– Weapons are designed for specific purposes, and no weapon can be designed for all purposes at once. No silver bullets...

Europe take note - start shopping more for systems locally.

Gugner (here spellt "Gugnir") is the mythological spear of the Norse god Oden (Odin).

FMV has signed a contract with Saab for the modernization of Sweden's heavy coastal robot capability. The order concerns the naval target robot RBS15 Mk3, which is integrated on mobile platforms and replaces the predecessor RBS15 Mk2.

Robot is what we call a missile in sweden. Often times people say missil but it's anglification

Seen a lot about RBS15. I think Gungnir is a serious development from the earlier versions. However the thing Id like to see most is how Gungnir survives defensive missiles and Ciws. If it cannot handle these things it is a nice flying machine but will have little consequence in a combat situations.

Interesting how equipment made for Nordic arctic climate finds it's way to places like Brazil and Thailand.

Ja innan jag hört låtarna trodde jag Wickihalder var en vinnarkandidat. Som upplagt för henne. Men trots trist låt så går hon vidare

GPS guidance ? Like the storm shadow/atacms ? So it can be jammed exactly like them then.

NATO is not a defensive alliance. They illegally bombed Yugoslavia (direct violation of the UN Charter). We must never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria etc

Why bother with expensive next gen missles, when $500.00 drones, and stockpiles of soviet era bombs (fitted with glide kits) do the job just as well?

looks like soviet cruise antiship missile of 1950х

It would be interesting if this channel could do a comparison between the Norwegian Naval Strike Missile and the RBS-15 Gungnir. I think the Naval Strike Missile is superior.

The only thing that makes it stand out and almost good is the data link. Otherwise it is nothing special. It's not bad, but... It lacks speed, power and range.

nice and all, but a battleship slug cant be shot down, be jammed, are compared to a missile almost instant hitting and above all, cost a few bucks and takes a few minutes to manufacture.
Bring back the big battleships!

I don't see anything transcendent in this missile, an update of an old system, nothing more. And in any case, it doesn't compare to a hypersonic missile.
