Fun fact - Lenin is also always portrayed as a giant but was in fact only 13.5 inches tall. Nearly every picture of Lenin riding his pet cat Fluffy was destroyed soon after his death

Stalin's height circa age 20 as given in his arrest records was 169 cm. This was only a cm or so shorter than the average height in the Russian Empire at this time. There are numerous photos/videos of Stalin with contemporaries including Churchill that show he was not particularly short for his era. Neither was Napolean short for his time.

People think Napoleon was short, because he was tiny compared to his arch nemesis The Duke of Wellington who stood at a towering 6 feet and 40 inches. It was said that people witnessed an entire cow walk into the Duke's quarters. . . and it never came back out.
