Marina Satti has partnered with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to support refugee children. In this context, Marina Satti and Madhouse Records will donate their profit from the release of the music-video “Ah, Thalassa” (“Oh, sea”) to help children in need.

Η Μαρίνα Σάττι συνεργάζεται με την Ύπατη Αρμοστεία του ΟΗΕ για τους Πρόσφυγες (UNHCR) για την υποστήριξη των παιδιών προσφύγων. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, η Μαρίνα Σάττι και η Madhouse Records θα δωρίσουν τα έσοδά τους από το νέο βίντεο-κλιπ με τίτλο «Αχ, θάλασσα» για τα παιδιά που έχουν ανάγκη.

Last week, when we released this music video, the number of deaths in the Mediterranean was 29, 984, and today I read that it has surpassed 30, 000… It is a phenomenon that unfortunately happens near us every day. Even a small donation (for those who can) from each of us can make a difference for the people who flee from war, violence, and persecution. 🙏🏽

Την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα που δημοσιεύσαμε αυτό το βίντεο κλιπ, ο αριθμός των θανάτων στη Μεσόγειο ήταν 29.984 και σήμερα διάβασα ότι έχει ξεπεράσει τις 30.000… Είναι ένα φαινόμενο που δυστυχώς συμβαίνει δίπλα μας κάθε μέρα. Έστω μια μικρή δωρεά (για όποιον μπορεί) από τον καθένα μας μπορεί να κάνει τη διαφορά για τους ανθρώπους που έχουν ξεριζωθεί απο τα σπίτια τους εξαιτίας πολέμου, βίας και διώξεων.🙏🏽

Ah Marina, ah ... I am Syrian and tried to escape the war in 2013. I still remember that night when I, along with 41 other seekers, tried to move from Turkey to Greece, looking for a chance. We were filled with both fear and hope. I still remember the Ethiopian woman with her baby; she looked directly into my soul! We talked without words. I told her everything would be okay, but sadly, it was not okay for them. Only six of us made it, and I was one of them. I remember them every day and night. Her baby was supposed to be a child playing football with your children, but he didn't have the luxury of being alive.


Life is a treasure... appreciate it, guys. Marina, thanks for hugging my tears with this song ❤❤❤❤. God bless you all, and may all rest in peace.

When I commented on the video, I spoke from my emotions because the nostalgia the song brought up reminded me of my experiences. I wasn't looking for any impact or interaction. I just wanted to say that Marina's art touched me deeply because it was so real.

Days later, I found myself caught between two sides, having to explain myself and my choices to strangers for no reason.

Long story short: to those who refuse to accept "illegal immigrants, " you have every right to your opinions, but you still need to respect people's choices. You also need to hear the other side of the story.

Here are some facts:
When we arrived, your government forced us to register as refugees with restrictions on our movement within the country.
With this regestration they received money from the UN for us, but we got no services which they supposed to provide us with for this money !!! We had no place to stay, they took money from us to buy us food as well and we recieved no medical help, The money was for them.

They forced us to fingerprint documents in a language we didn't understand. Your country took the money without providing the international law-mandated services. They even prevented nonprofit organizations from helping us. One survivor had a stroke after swimming for eight hours, and the first question asked was about our religion.

When I said I was Christian, they didn't believe me and demanded I strip to check if I was circumcised.

Muslims and atheists matter too. We didn't choose to seek a better life; we just wanted a different one from the 100% death.

Before our war, instigated in part by the EU, no Syrian was trying to illegally enter Europe. We didn't care about the fancy life you think you have !!! We had our own standard as well .

You closed all embassies and stopped trade with Syria, indirectly killing us, while still dealing weapons with the dictator and ISIS.


You don't need to accept any of this, but you should respect people's choices.
We've lost everything: families, homes, money, history. We've been humiliated and have to show our suffering to strangers, pleading for the chance to live. The EU, America, and Russia took that chance from us.


So please "Christians by bearth" don't speak about Jesus if you don't understand His love and salvation which was free for everyone.

Instead of labeling people by religion or color, be His light on Earth.

We don't have to go to a Muslim country just because some people think so. Or to go to brown population country, we are not ever brown ... i m white but with heart !!!


We do what's best for us and our children. Fix your politics, make things legal, or admit you're complicit in the suffering and death of 24 million people.

PS " I left Greece after 3 month and I started my life again in another European country ... I am working, paying Taxes and I am supporting many organizations including a greek one " Helping Hands " which take care of homeless people in Athens and for sure Refugee .... I still processing the Truma I ve been through and funny fact I did met someone greek outside Greece in the country where I live and I became citizen and we are together for 4 years and soon we will have our own family " .

Guys be kind to each other ... it doesn't fucking matter who you are or where you are from t the end we all need to eat, sleep and go to WC we are human . God bless you all

i lost one of my closest friends in the sea. i struggled hard with their death for months, it felt like i was the only one who remembered them. i discovered marina after watching eurovision and kept listening to her, when this came out i literally cried my eyes out, thank you marina such a lovely song for such lovely memorial for victims of the sea’s grasp ❤

Yesterday morning was my last day in Greece and I stared out from the balcony to the distant view of the ocean, I had Marina singing this in mind as I was unexpectedly moved to tears. Ah Thalassa

No one really does it like her, one of the only people with the courage to speak of the refugee crisis and how classism has impacted this society's treatment of the less fortunate, not only giving a second meaning to a song that was already a gutpunch, but serving as a painful reminder of what people in this sea go through, which is something that especially as an Italian i feel we need more of before we change our ways.
