This might be my favorite from this album. One of their best albums, imo. I couldn't care less what haters say, just what Metallica plays.

James has been able to compose this masterpiece at the age of 59. He's a damn legend. I don't know what will become of me when he's gone and I know I'll never hear new music from him. I hope the guys are leaving behind plenty of recorded ideas in case one day their children can edit posthumous material. The world deserves a lot more Metallica and less garbage.

Lots to say here on Justice and Mercy. I guess the moral of the story is that: don't think your righteous anger 1.) Makes you good. 2.) Makes you better at evil than those who live by it. 3.) Will save your soul (in fact the father here is the first to be dragged down into hell).

So what is to be done if there is a miscarriage of justice? Do we take justice into our own hands? No, that only condemns us also. But justice must be had. There is only one solution: eternal justice meeted out by the Lord, a transcendent perfect Judge, the One who received every worldly injustice, the One who wears the crown of thorns.

Or maybe it's just a great metal song and I'm reading too much into it haha

Chorus is super fucking heavy and catchy. Been stuck in my head for a week after not really being there since release. Fucking love James' vocals here, super dark. "it crushes down what isn't real" - fuckin' awesome delivery. Can't wait to see him having fun with it live. It's like something from Load but way heavier/darker.
