Doctor analyzes Sen. Mitch McConnell's latest episode

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell appeared to briefly freeze up and was unable to answer a question from a reporter at an event in Kentucky on Wednesday. Dr. David Thaler from Tufts Medical Center looks at the video and offers some possible explanations.

Dianne Feinstein and Mitch McConnell both need to step down at the same time. This is beyond ridiculous! Extreme abuse on both sides!

As a 71-year-old, I had fought against age restrictions, but after seeing McConnell and Feinstein recently, I have changed my mind. Congress should be having some discussions.

Although these people are constantly re-elected, there should be term limits. Why people think they are entitled to their jobs and positions for life is beyond me.

There comes a point where any sane person would realize that this person should not have the responsibility of making decisions that affect this country. This is not a partisan decision, it is an empathetic and sensible decision.

These frail people in their 70s and 80s -- McConnell, Biden, Pelosi, Feinstein, etc...- should retire and resign from office. They aren't doing their jobs, so unelected and unaccountable staffers are really doing the work and exercising their authority. That is NOT appropriate. This is unacceptable.

I had a friend who was battling a brain tumor. He had mini seizures as the tumor was pushing against a part of his brain. The seizures lasted about 30 seconds and then he’d be fine.

This is serious ! Mitch McConnel needs medical attention and NEEDS TO STEP DOWN. There are many more incidents of him freezing up than are reported. Term limits may be the way we are protected as a people.

My mom had freezes like this. She was 87 years old and she ended up having arteritis. They did surgery on her temples. She ended up losing full sight in one eye and about 40% in the other before doctors knew what was going on. She had a lot of tests done.

As a human, I feel sorry for him. As Mitch McConnell, no sympathy at all. The damage he's done to this country is incalculable.

Well I was not over-impressed by that physician's prognoses, He was on air for a few minutes and told us nothing. I knew someone who suffered exactly the same type of seizures. Mitch McConnell has had two bad falls one of which he suffered a concussion. This was the case with my friend, The diagnosis was Petit Mal seizures, momentary lapses or freezing of speech It's a neurological condition, that can happen in young children which they grow out of, but in older patients, it evolves after a head trauma or a severe concussion. Surely WCVB could have found a Doctor or Neurologist, who was aware of this condition. He was not suffering a stroke as has been wrongfully rumored.

I wouldn’t feel too sorry for ol’ Mitch. He has the best tax-payer-funded health care that he’s denied millions of Americans of.

This is so sad, as he is obviously health compromised, and it's just so embarrassing to himself, his office, the american government, and the americans he represents. Please provide him the best care possible, and place him in comfortable, supported retirement as soon as possible.
