iPhone XR in 2024 - Can It Be Your Daily Driver?

the iPhone XR is one my favourite iPhones of all time but can you still use it now in 2024? iOS 17 has just been released for the iPhone XR with potentially its last ever update but how does this make the phone feel in 2023?

My battery percentage is at 93 percent at 2 year mark… and that’s after an unhealthy amount of use basically 24/7, tbh a really great reliable phone. I just bought my 15 pro max, but it has been my best phone up to this date

The ghosting is because the XR has an LCD display. There's something different about how they work vs an OLED. I specifically notice it when the phone is very cold. If you compare an iPhone 12 (OLED) to an iPhone 11 in cold weather, you will 100% notice a difference.

My teenagers still love their Xr’s! The Xr, 11 and SE are the only choices for the 10% of us who can’t use OLED due to PWM. I’m PRAYING they don’t use OLED on the SE 4!

Battery health is a bit concern but for calls social media lite games and if you are using it in an official environment you are good to go with it. Still a beast atleast far more better than many budget androids

Watching this on IPhone XR works really well for me, don’t have any plans to change it, it satisfies my needs almost perfectly, bought it last year, refurbished. It broke down a couple of times, that was the only pain in the ass for me, fixed it in a local workshop. Also after upgrading to new IOS 17, I have a feeling like I have a new phone, which is pretty cool. And also XR looks much more authentic comparing to any other model and also have the best colour collection

You can absolutely still use the XR as your daily driver. I had one until a month ago at 90 percent battery health. Wound up getting the iPhone 13 in the same white color as the XR and I honestly couldn’t tell a huge difference between the two. Performance worked well on the XR and battery life was still really decent getting over 5 hours of screen on time at 90 percent battery health on iOS 17. Not sure if the XR will get iOS 18, but even if not, you could get this a budget iPhone and still be able to use it another 2 years at least if not 3. I used it as my daily driver and never had the kind of screen issues and the battery life was pretty good for a 5 year old iPhone.

Im using my XR daily till now and its supper comfy, one and only that is not comfortable for me is the backglass and all fingerprint on it. But still after 5years still good smartphone to use. I think it is apples one of the best product

oh yeah the reason why the XR's display feels slow or you get that "ghosting" feeling you described. I assumed that it is because OLED displays has a significantly faster response time compared to say, an LCD like on this iPhone. And that's the reason why when you came back to using this, it felt sluggish. I do not know how much faster oled iphones are compared to an lcd iphone since i've only heard this from monitors.

I bought the iPhone XR in October 2019 & the battery health is 85% now after more than 4 years

I’ve been using XR for 5 years with a 10 hours average screen time and it work completely fine. Not going to upgrade as long I can still use Apps.
Battery life is a issue when I’m playing games

I still have a iPhone XR but I’m thinking about upgrading to the 15’s. I’ve had my phone for 3-4 years, it needs to be charged 3-4 times which is annoying. The 15 has caught my eye and I wanted to update for a while.

I sold my iphone 14 pro max and started using my XR iOS 17 with a brand new battery. It is the best experience ever, everything is perfect except the cameras, they are just OK.
I bought this XR with a new battery for $120.

Stout bezels are valued by older people and teenagers alike for the simple reason that they are tough and give good leverage and steadying.
The young adults into fashionable and latest for the sake of it will happily give heaps of money to Tim Cooke and the company but the engineers are the people to listen to. Many predict that cell phones will shrink again soon, be thicker [not heavier] and even restore the audio jack, especially for the giant Asian market.

The only issue I’m having is my battery
It decreases even when not in use
It’s really annoying
Kinda feel like I shouldn’t have updated if I knew or they should’ve warned it would affect the battery life
Other features of the iPhone is still great tho
