Texas teen suspended for wearing nail polish to school

A Texas teenager was suspended from school after his nails were painted when he returned to school after the Thanksgiving break. The student, 17-year-old Trevor Wilkinson, said he was told to go to in-school suspension or continue class remotely. Wilkinson has since started a petition to change the school's rules.

Wilkinson goes to school just west of the Fort Worth, Texas area. He said administrators asked him to remove the nail polish and says the district told him he can't come back to class until it's removed. The district said they can't speak on specific instances but said this case is a violation of the school dress code, which prohibits male students from wearing nail polish.

If i could talk to the boy i would tell him that life goes on and to let it go and don't take it to heart. Schools like this will always be like this graduate and get the hell out of that school as quick as possible

There is a difference between a rule that allows no one to wear nail polish versus rule that doesn't allow only males to wear nail polish. What about equality, freedom of expression. Oh, wait, I forget, people only care about the rights of the people having their own ideology.

Wish they would allow black students to wear natural hair / protective hair styles and have the same attitude.

Exactly! There are more important things we, as a country, are going through than a boy painting his nails. This case is nothing but a personal agenda from a group of religious people.

Since the school has a handbook that addresses this issue, their decision on this shouldn't be a big shock. But, in this society where increasingly anything goes, they will probably be forced to make changes.

The problem here is that the teen is trying to express himself using his first amendment. The school is using their first amendment saying they do not want men in their school to paint their nails. The teen and his followers feel like they have more rights than the school system and that is not Ok.
