Banking in Switzerland isn't cheap. Unlike emerging world banks - or even banks in Singapore - that offer lower deposits, Switzerland commands a premium price. On top of that, they require more paperwork and bureaucracy than many other banks.

In this video, we address the minimum deposit required for expats and non-residents to open an account at most Swiss banks.

The banks in Switzerland will just turn you away - no questions asked- when you show them a USA passport. Postfinance will let USA citizens open accounts, but
Postfinance is officially not a bank.

What about CIM Banque, low minimums amounts to open account of ~10, 000 $/€/CHF, are a ‘real’ bank who have some branches. While they have various account keeping fees charges They do offer access to a professional platform (Interactive Brokers) covering global equities, bonds etc and forex and margin at wholesale rates (lowest actually at BBSW cash rate + 1-1.5%).
Benefits someone who is more ‘DIY’, the money you save on trading costs

Of course, if you want Swiss white gloves service they are good at charging you for the privilege. You also don’t have the stigma of private banks requiring large deposits with minimal transactions as they (CIM) by design are happy to consistently clip the ticket on all your activity on their platforms.

I love the St. Regis in Bali, it's a little overpriced imo but I've never had any issues. The St Regis in MRU is better value but a little harder to get to.

Hypothetically speaking not that this has ever happened to me totally random imaginary scenario, the St. Regis Bali where are you pay $1000 a night and they complain that you think their Wi-Fi isn’t working properly. LOL. Yeah I was just in a place last week for $450 a night right on the golf of Mexico and I would say we had five devices on the Wi-Fi maybe six, and they were all screaming at blistering speeds. And I was thinking yeah for what I’m paying i’m grateful I don’t have to complain about the Wi-Fi.
