Affordable Housing
Affordable housing is housing which is deemed affordable to those with a household income at or below the median as rated by the national government or a local government by a recognized housing affordability index. Most of the literature on affordable housing refers to mortgages and a number of forms that exist along a continuum – from emergency homeless shelters, to transitional housing, to non-market rental (also known as social or subsidized housing), to formal and informal rental, indigenous housing, and ending with affordable home ownership.

Housing choice is a response to a complex set of economic, social, and psychological impulses.[6] For example, some households may choose to spend more on housing because they feel they can afford to, while others may not have a choice.[7]

HUD VASH
HUD-VASH is a collaborative program that pairs HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) rental assistance with VA case management and supportive services. These services are designed to help homeless Veterans and their families obtain permanent housing and access the health care, mental health treatment, and other supports necessary to help them improve their quality of life and maintain housing over time.

Section 202 SUPPORTIVE HOUSING FOR THE ELDERLY PROGRAM
Occupancy in Section 202 housing is open to any very low-income household comprised of at least one person who is at least 62 years old at the time of initial occupancy.

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offers several housing programs for low-income seniors on Social Security, including:
Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly: A federal program for seniors aged 62 and older with limited incomes
Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers: Low-income seniors may qualify for vouchers to help pay rent
The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC): Incentives for senior living communities to make units affordable for low-income seniors

Well, Jay hi Jay, my name is Nathaniel Harris and I want to fill out for section 8 because I had got approval before, but I got burned with some high grease in my old department and by the time I got out the hospital insurance carry that I have just started sending me to places like the nursing home for a year and then left the nursing home for you and sister living in place. I’ve been here for almost a year. I just wanna get out of here and get it into my place so I can get my independence back and I could be motivated to keep moving forward and beingdepressed I’m going backwards not moving forward at all. I pray every day and every night before bed and before meals hears I put me in the place where I’m gonna feel motivated to keep moving forward.

You can't get in anywhere . I live in Florida. I am in disability raising a grandchild I adopted. They don't even make appointments trying to call any of these affordable housing places is even difficult

Not assisted living or nursing home or retirement home but just regular apartments for low income seniors? Do you need to contact the Housing Authority in each community you might be interested in? 😂I got on section 8 when I was homeless. I was on a wait list for over a year and I was surfing on couches. I put my life back together pretty much. Then my ex passed away and I started receiving spousal benefits which I thought was great. It wasn't. I lost my voucher because they said I made to much so my rent went up over $250 and along with everything else going up so much I'm about to be homeless again. All my hard work down the toilet. I'm 61 on disability and also a Vet. I'm tired of fighting this system. Just when I thought I was doing OK they knocked me on my ass again. I'm about to just give up and live in my car.

Single, never married, no children. On Medicaid, Social Security. Lived in this apartment for 25 years, just need to move in something I can afford before my rent goes up next year. I am on a Section 8 waiting list for almsot 3 years now, probally will never call. Thank again.
