This car is a old person car sleeper. I'm doing my research and looking around for one. I think it has become my dreamcar.

I've been saying this for years, the LS400 is one of the greatest rwd v8's you can get and they're dirt cheap too, so shhhh don't tell anyone how awesome they are so they can stay cheap when I finally can buy one!

I have a 1998 ls400. 111000 miles, drive it every day. You can easily see the quality of materials used to build this car. Nothing fades, head light covers are crystal clear, runs great and is even pretty quick. You don't feel any bumps on the road, ride is smooth as silk. Car was built to last. Very good for long trips, I find I can drive much longer hours comfortably than any other car I have driven. It's in a class by itself!! It has the 290hp engine and is much quicker than the previous generation. I have driven both and mine is much more powerful. I know 290 horse power doesn't sound like much but the car has great acceleration. Its a cruiser for sure and I really like this car.22 years old, daily driver and never has any problems. Can't ask for any better.

I just started a job at Lexus, and as part of my training, I had to learn about this car. This video was both more informative and more entertaining than my training was :)

Toyota Engineer: I want a holiday in LA

2nd Engineer: What if we say we need it to live in LA for a month in a well off area so we can learn what Americans want?

1st: Go on

2nd: And then we'll need to test drive the cars across the US and Europe to ensure they're designed properly

1st: Keep going

2nd: Toyota has almost given us a blank check and says we can put a 4l V8 in the car

1st: NANI?!

I think James missed one of the BIGGEST things about the LS430. It's drag coefficient was 0.25.

To put that in perspective, the McLaren P1 has a drag coefficient of 0.34, the LaFerrari at 0.30, and the Porsche 918 at 0.29.

IN FACT, the Tesla Model S has a drag coefficient of 0.24. The Model X at 0.25, and the Model 3 at 0.23. The Lexus LS430 was produced in 2001. Over a decade before any of these cars. That is FUCKING INSANITY. I LOVE these cars so much.

I worked for Lexus as a teenager and was lucky enough to drive an absolutely pristine 1993 LS and I don’t think I’ve ever driven in a car that felt as smooth. Truly a special car

My grandfather had a 94 LS 400 and it's one of the finest vehicles I've been in to this day. V8, RWD, leather seats, snazy looking speedometers and gauges. And it handled like a dream in middle of no where Canada where we get tons of snow and -40 weather conditions. And he kept it for about 10 years until he upgraded, and it was still running strong when it was traded in.

When I was younger i was never into luxury car. I mostly had small, leighweight rear wheel drive cars like the RX7, Celica Supra, AE86 Corolla, 1st Gen MR2. Ended up getting a 2001 Lexus GS430 as my 1sr luxury straight fell in love.

There was one at one of those junk yards that you pick the parts yourself and it was so sad seeing it in pieces. People had ripped it apart, destroying most of it in order to get the one or two parts that they needed. For some reason what I remember most is that I could see that the wood paneling were real pieces of wood and not just thin veneers. You could tell they were all hand crafted and lacquered many times and a lot of work went into just these simple parts.

You guyd didn't mention the 98-00 LS400. The body panels; were redesigned, interior, and the engine gained about 40hp due to vvti. The transmission became a 5 speed.

I’ve watched this episode more than ever others I watch usually once. I still get goosebumps when you say ‘it’s an awesome engine’

Every time I look at an LS400, I remember the bonus stage of Street Fighter 2.

I managed to practically steal a ‘98 model with 79k miles on it for just $2, 400(gorgeous factory navy blue paint). Everyone I have taken around in it is absolutely amazed at how comfortable and smooth the ride is, whilst sounding like an angry caged beast at just a couple thousand rpm. My dudes, if you manage to stumble upon one of these you will not be disappointed. 25k miles later and all she needed was a few oil changes, and a few sets of rear tires😆

One of my relatives bought a 2001 BMW 7 series and, most of the time, it was at the mechanic who's fixing so many problems. Until I told him to sell it and buy a Lexus. After so much research, he bought a 2000 Lexus LS400. It is just as good as a new car. It rarely breaks. He only changed few parts and it simply works. Very stable, quite, reliable, great isolation and luxurious.
