RIP John Forbes Nash (June 13, 1928 – May 23, 2015), aged 86
And
RIP Alicia Nash (January 1, 1933 – May 23, 2015), aged 82
You both will be remembered as legends

We will never really know how many other "beautiful minds" were lost to the world.  Locked away in mental institutions; neglected, drugged, lobotomized.  All because of ignorance and fear of mental illness.   Sad.

John Nash didn't really deliver this speech in real life, but in my opinion it doesn't matter. The speech is supposed to drive home the fact that even the most troubled people mental illnesses can accomplish incredible things. He found humility, and became humble. And then, the most incredible thing happened to him when he got this award. Seeing his eyes as people stood up and applauded for him was amazing - You could see in his eyes that it was no longer a matter of being a genius, but instead conquering personal demons and tribulation.

Did anyone else melt when he said "Come with me, young lady"? Because I just felt like it was so utterly sweet and romantic.

His wife deserves a huge credit for being with him through thick and thin.

I remember seeing the movie and trying so hard not to cry at the end of it. I still tear up every time I watch this scene.

"You are the reason I am... You are all my reasons."

I feel much better knowing I'm not the only person that can't watch this film without crying. It's impossible. The revelation that half the people he cares about don't exist, then his struggles to continue his work while medicated, then the people at Princeton that mock him, then his delusions coming back in full force.... That's all so much. But then we get to the "this is real" scene... the pen scene... finally this. How? How the hell do you make it out of this film without a single tear? How do you survive past all of that? I've seen thousands of films, and this one manages to strike a chord with me unlike many. A number of films make me emotional. This one makes me a mess.

New is just pouring in: John and Alicia Nash have both died from a car accident outside Princeton this morning. Nash was 86; Alicia was 82.
No words could express the sudden loss of these two brilliant people. Humanity has lost a beautiful mind, a beautiful heart, and a beautiful companionship... and will be deeply missed by all of us who seek reason in times of chaos.

I've watched this speech close to a dozen times and I still cry each time especially when he tells her he is there tonight because of her.

This put tears in my eyes and chills in my spine. Bravo John Nash. Bravo Russel Crowe. This is what the art of moviemaking is about. It is supposed to move us, and bring out emotions.
