That last "now you're just someone I used to know" in light of Auram becoming Avida and vanishing - with Ib and Dingirsu left on a regenerating planet...
It really captured a sense of how bittersweet the ending really was.

Scientific post apocalyptic high fantasy is high key my favourite genre. The moment where the protagonist keeps finding "ancient civilization artifacts" and we as the readers slowly put two and two together and find out that this ancient civilization is so similar to our current technology and the apocalypse is one of our possible future is just the best. It's just a thrilling combination of wonder and dread. You suddenly appreciate the potentials of the present, the grandiosity of the future, and the mystery of the past. Will we turn out just like that? What if ancient Egyptians and Mayans were just like us with flying vehicles and smartphones, but they just don't survive the passage of time?

I don't know why they went so hard but the World Legacy series HAS to be adapted into a proper anime format. A few tweaks here and there in world building and it could become one of the greatest stories in anime history. The mystery, the twists, and shocking reveals. I was actually fully gripped and invested in this story. I felt like I was reading a 10 long 1000 page series of books. The way everything progressed was just so...well done. I'm still hurt over Lee's twist and betrayal but at the same time....Galatea being made into a real fairy joining Ningirsu was nothing short of beautiful. I never knew I could still be gripped so tightly from Yu-Gi-Oh!! today. The story of these cards did more of convincing me to come back to this game and learn the Link Summoning mechanic than anything else.
