Scientists find lake of 'liquid water' on Mars

There's a lake on Mars, it's been revealed today. It's not very big, but it is described as a proper body of liquid water probably around 22 metres wide and at least a metre deep. Scientists from the National Institute for Astrophysics say it's the first conclusive proof that H2O exists there currently, even though there's evidence of it having been there in the past. Water, of course, is a prerequisite for life as we know it.. Ed Howker has the details, and we talk to astrobiologist Manish Patel and Tom Kerss, an astronomer based at the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

If there was life on other planet's wouldn't they're makeup be different? Who's to say every living creature needs oxygen, food, after etc? If they've had to adapt in different situations and circumstances because of their environment who's to say they need what we do. It's very ignorant to me. Just presuming they need the same things as us to live

The real purpose of this is finding potential mining commodities. History always repeats and ships sent out to places like Australia and America, were principally looking for gold and potential riches.

I REMEMBER MY DREAM OF MARS. Seeing vehicles on Mars and good tarred roads, wonderful.

> Watches video about how we actually found a major scientific discovery on a planet that we once thought it was just a deserted mass of rock.
> The comments are a cesspool of conspiracy theories, inane political debates and insults.

You don’t have to go to Mars to find water, I have some water right here at my house.

now another set of problems presented...
1. drilling without contaminating the water
2. sending drilling specialists there
3. transporting drilling equipments
4. protecting the subsurface containing the water from the harsh conditions on mars itself
