Karen Johnston will be joining us to talk about "Recording Keeping for Poultry Breeders." This topic is often talked about but seldom taught.

Karen and I will teach you about the importance of keeping good records, the important records to track plus how to do it. I have seen a similar presentation by her and I know you'll get a lot of great information and ideas from her.

Didn't realize there were so many ways to ID chickens. Thanks for talking about them.

Karen- is there somewhere I could download the spreadsheets to use/modify for my own uses? Right now I am handwriting everything and it gets very tedious when I have to start a new sheet 😂

@ 54:00 or about there when Karen talked about the "invisible" front number and reusing the numbers that way- how do you know what generation each bird is by the bands?

The ABA leg band lettering (and the band) stays on for life, therefor you only have to put them on once, at around 6-8 weeks old, then they have a personal number and the year hatched assigned for life, pretty awesome

What is the risk of infection with the toe punch? Chicks are walking on feces?

Can you provide a link for where to find strechy leg bands that actually stau on and what sizes i would need for newborn on up please?

Curious if you assign numbers to the bands, when in number 1-99, do you only put the single digit band or double digit band or do for those numbers do you fill in the blanks with "0" bands so each bird always has 3 numbers? Meaning a number 7 bird would actually be "007" on the bird or "25" would be "025" ?

Do the zip ties not switch order ever? I was just thinking if you use them to assign number what if they get out of order they were originally put on in? Say it's number 135 originally but ties move and now it reads 513?
