This is a non sequitur. You are correct that a person who is determined to believe what is false is an irrational person. But the opposite, ie someone who is determined to believe what is true, can absolutely be a rational person. Rationality requires (a) true belief that is (b) grounded on true justification. True justification is when we use true information (ie information that corresponds to reality) and properly utilize the rules of rationality in order to reason from true information to true conclusions. In other words, we are rational when our conclusions ARE DETERMINED by truth and the appropriate use of the rules of rationality.

Computers, provided they are given true inputs, can be rational. I don’t see any reason for any kind of “contra-causality” when it comes to reasoning. If a person reasons incorrectly the “fault” is theirs. It means that their conclusions resulted from either (a) false information or (b) a faulty reasoning process. Those are both “faults” with them, “faults” that need to be fixed in order for them to be rational.
