Oh, and for anyone who has sailed -- a lot of the sailing outrigger canoes (proas) don't tack, they _shunt_ -- swap which end of the hull is the bow and turn the new bow up towards the wind on the opposite tack, so the outrigger stays upwind (and sometimes fully above the water) and they're never sailing directly into the wind.
