This is not about stopping gun violence. This is about disarming the populace.

One thing that is missing here is if we go back to the 1950s-1970s, we had a real mental health system in this country. But our state governors shut it down because it was so expensive. Back in the late 1960s, I watched my mother, a county social worker director, send off dozens of mentally ill people to state mental hospitals. Most of them were sent for an evaluation and if they failed, they stayed there for a long time. No early releases. Now we are seeing the results of decades of refusing to deal with mental health, shutting down state hospitals, and setting the crazy back on the streets.

How do you make sense of changing the age to buy a firearm to 21, but maintain the ability to send 18, 19, & 20-year-olds into battle?

Well...if they raise the age to 21 for firearm ownership.... then I guess they also cannot join the military until 21since they wouldn't be allowed a weapon.
