For more music and an interview with Genaux:
Vivica Genaux sings "Madrid" with pianist Craig Rutenberg.

Mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux has made Venice, Italy her home for some years now but she grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska. There she found that the harsh climate made her naturally suited to playing men on the opera stage and she has specialized in so-called trouser roles throughout her career.

Quem quiser que traduza. O movimento do queixo é importantissimo na coluratura que a mezzo faz, pois deixa o queixo descontraido . A contração do queixo deixa os musculos tensos, e melhor coluratura que a dela temos poucas. Brava Vivica!

Exquisite indeed...I would say this was a zarzuela, except that she appears to be singing in French? Certainly the rhythm and changes of key remind one forcibly of a zarzuela.
I love Vivica's rich, chocolately voice. Always.

What... what is happening with her mouth? Do we maybe have some jaw tension happening? How can she sing like that for an extended period of time?

I think a weird way of singing. There's tension in her voice. She's not bad, but the trembling in her lips and jaw has a decisive influence on her voice.
