Banks know what’s coming! Tariffs will destroy rates!
Now being priced in!

Economy is toast. Just got a quite on bathroom remodel. Blew my mind. Over double my highest prediction. Not doing it. Not spending 100k for a bathtub.

Tariffs won’t work because the US doesn’t manufacture goods that US consumers buy anymore; I.e. there is nowhere to buy the products except China or other foreign manufacturers.
The time to fix this was back in the 80’s - 2000’s before it was all literally shipped overseas.
The tariffs just mean anything US consumers actually want to buy will be more expensive.

We've actually gone from over 700k steel jobs in America to around 150k now.

Interesting to see these things develop. Easier to make rates go up then to bring them down at this point in history.

The dude forgot to mention, our government made it too expensive for the steel mill to work in America so they send everything overseas

Cut spending....or raise revenue. The revenue side never seems to get any time in the discussion.

Thanks a lot for your thoughts, agree we have to put America First 🇺🇸 👍

There is no such thing as dumping, their costs are just way lower than out costs, full stop. Those steel mills were going to be gone, regardless of tariff levels, that is just reality. Now did our iphones have to go over there, no, not really, and there are good reasons to keep the gUd stuff here, but steel wasn't that, it was, and is, just a commodity, and there is nothing wrong with buying cheap Chinese steel.

Isn't the deficit going to "skyrocket". I'm so confused

The dumping of product on market that drops price is similar to the solar panels. Inflation reduction act is feeding billions to subsidize American solar companies that do not produce any panels. Meanwhile China sends parts and assembles in the US and sells for a quarter of the price. Tariffs would lower profits that China receives and actually put some of that subsidy money to good use

Why is mortgage interest rates going up when the fed is cutting rates? Greedy banks!

Very happy trump won! The economy ( and i ) were much better off financially when he was in office.

I used to really watch the fed meeting dates and thought their cuts made more of an impact, but after the last 50 BpS cut i gave up thinking they actually matter as much as they do. Markets and bond yields go in opposite direction, but yet my bank didnt waste anytime lowering my savings account rate. Still optimistic rates will come down eventually but not holding my breath.

rates should not be cut while inflation is above target
5 % rates are not high by historical standards
Money should be worth SOMETHING Easy money makes Govmnt, Corporations, and individual act carelessly
