I'm glad to see the Poles doing astronomy again. Last time they put their mind to it, they discovered the heliocentric solar system.

Finally a proof that debunk the flat galaxy community!

Are we gonna get flat milky-way conspiracy theories?

Wow that is a pretty amazing discovery! Changes the way I I think about the dynamics of galaxies

Too much for my brain to handle, but thank you for the research and work you do.

Reminds me of the Alcubierre drive. Push in back and pull in front.

The S shape cross-section of the Milkyway is evidence of residual unsettlted inertia from previous intergalactic collision/merger. Could also be the far reaching influence of approaching Andromeda. But more likely the Milkyway is quivering from incomplete digestion.

Grats on this awesome work, but it opens up so many new questions! Is there a relationship between the rotation of the galaxy and the rotation of the central black hole? Does the model show any precessional tendencies? With the fact that the youngest stars appear towards the core, is that due to stars migrating outwards to eventually be lost (is the galaxy "evaporating"), or is it that the materials for new formation are being pulled in to the center of the galaxy and the amount of new stellar formation related to the increasing density of that material as it is pulled in? Such a grand beautiful universe. Seems like there is always something more to learn about it, and that's a good enough reason for me to want to wake up again tomorrow!

Good job! Clearly something I am always amazed. We never saw totally our milky way (from outside point of view), but thanks to scientists we are able to have a quite precise idea of how it looks like!

Cool! Our galaxy has a bit of style and even put a little body english into its motion. 😊

Now lets check if there are any aliens on each of the planets.

I'm gonna build a backyard rocket to launch myself up 1000 feet and prove this wrong!

For those about to science the shit out of shit...I salute you!

I liked it... it made sense and adds to a logical paradigm. You should have played the last part of the video more than once to cement the structure and idea of that into the frontal cortex more permanently.
Hone the video, and give it more depth of animation to show more of what you did and how it applies to our present paradigm.

Has this model been designed based on where we SEE the stars in the sky currently though? I've always wondered this, because if so then our picture of the Milky Way would be skewed by time. Can we simulate how the Galaxy looks in it's entirety today by calculating the stars' distance from Earth with their trajectories around the galactic center?

the milky way is generally flat although slightly curved at the ends but still flat

I knew Pringles had more to do with our Galaxy than we presumed
