I've questioned some of Preller's deals in recent years, but I can't question this one. The Padres will have a stronger lineup with Arraez in it and that means more wins.

Been following Arraez since his AA days with Minnesota and this is what I know about him. Pure contact hitter, hits them where they ain't so to speak. Do not play him as leadoff, he clogs the bases. Believe it or not he's an RBI machine and would make a decent 3 hitter. Defensively he's aight at 2nd or 1st but I would DH him. Seems to fall off towards the end of the year another good reason to DH him and keep him fresh. Great teammate, everyone loves him.

I'm happy for him, he'll do well in SD. Gonna miss him, but I guess I'll be cheering for the Padres now.

The San Diego lineup includes stars such as Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts. Arraez, a two-time reigning Silver Slugger Award winner, provides yet another big name for the franchise. Arraez won the AL batting title in 2022 when he batted .316 for the Twins, and did so in the NL last season with the Marlins, becoming the only player to win an AL/NL batting title in two straight years with two different teams, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. His 2023 season was particularly notable, as he had a lengthy chase of a .400 season before finishing the season with a .354 average -- still the best by any qualified hitter in a 162-game season since Josh Hamilton’s .359 in 2010.

I seen people underestimating Arraez ability to get hits, saying "he's not a power hitter or he's bad defensively". Its like now, every player has to hit home runs to be considered a good player, and still trying to hit a baseball is one of the most difficult things to do. Welcome to SD Arraez, help SD bring a championship!!!

Finally a real Tony Gwynn-esqe player in the Padres

Since there's no impact pitcher realistically available adding this bat can help the Pads win some track meets. Since our pitchers are giving up hrs we're gonna need more runs.

Arraez se merecía un equipo que luche por el campeonato, se que les caera muy bien a san diego. Ojala tenga una extencion de contrato. ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉

Padres got a steal with this trade. He's no Tony Gwynn but he's close.

I want the ‘22 padres back. I don’t know what we did that year. Can we please do it again and make a world series

What's astonishing is that Fish are giving $8 mil to Padres to pay virtually all of Arraez salary for the rest of the year.

Padres, great decision. A great contact hitter can stimulate a lineup. Now, from what I have observed, I think Ethan Salas needs to load his hands closer to ear level before swinging the bat -- as that can lower strikeouts with more direct barrel to ball angle and better "barrel force" in physics -- but he needs go feel that out for himself, and practice what works most successfully for his swing.

Been a Padres fan since '83 (after we got Gwynn) and if this is the closest thing we can get to Tony, I'll take it any day!!!

It's a good move imo. Arraez can play 2nd and DH. The man is a professional hitter and will be good for the Padres lineup.
