It is a Wing Chun (enclosed space) showcase scene. Contrasting a Wing Chun gentleman master, protecting himself and wife, against a Muay Thai paid thug.
The silence between IP Man and his wife speaks volumes; as they already have enough to contend with, as with her having cancer. With IP Man staying cool, calm and collected through out the entire scene, as not to upset his wife more than she deserves or can handle.

Ip Man doing nothing more than needed, without becoming derailed from the concerns for his wife.

As he didn't let ego or other emotions cloud his fighting spirit as he stayed focused and poised through the fight from start to finish.

In the end he didn't lower himself to ground and pound or going overboard with excessive violence, he just went on with the day showing his real concerns for his wife.
Where using Wing Chun without hesitation or preparation time, fighting not for trophies, money or to entertain others but towards protecting those that he cares about including himself, as so to continue to provide and protect his family against those wanting to do only harm.

I liked Ip Man's footwork at 2:24-2:34. So graceful and exact.

The financing was awesome I have nothing to complain they do not carry away with the punches or kicking like other movies they go so fast enough you need to go fast to hit high and to be a great fighter not really look at him look at his style nice smooth and easy

Just wonder, how would Ip man fight a Buakaw type of Muay Thai fighter. No flashy move, absorb your solid hit, then keep sweeping your leg until you could not stand.

The point is to show you every move so that you can follow the action, not have hundreds of cuts so that you can't figure out what is happening

Cool idea, making react videos to Wing Chun scenes being an Wing Chun Sifu... I agree that the Muay Thai guy seemed slow, maybe he was worse at acting than Donnie... But for Donnie's part I think the scene was very realistic... the only move (or effect to a move) that they showed and that wasn't realistic was when the MT guy was on the ground and Donnie kicks him and he slides and hits the wall, as you mentioned... So, considering that the WC part only had that unrealistc flaw, I'd say pretty good...
