Nursery Crime is my second favorite Genesis album just behind Foxtrot which is my favorite album since I've been listening to music (a very very long time) and will always be my favorite.

I have to say from the perspective of a record producer/audio engineer this song has a lot of very advanced mixing techniques, way ahead of its time for 1971 and not having automation like we do today it was definitely many hands on the board while this was being mixed. This is absolutely one of the best mixes I’ve ever heard, so much going on but it’s very tastefully done . All the fader/volume swells going on just compliment the music so much and the very tasteful use of effects and not going overkill. I still use this song today when teaching audio production .

I was driving down to Cornwall from London recently with my nephew, who's mostly into 90s dance music, etc. After we left the services, I asked if we could maybe have a bit of my music, and put this on. His face slowly turned from "WTF is THIS 😡?" to "WTF is THIS 😮?" to "WTF is THIS 😍?". I've been feeding him late 60s /early 70s stuff from all sorts of bands since. He was as surprised that this was Genesis as he was that Piper At The Gates Of Dawn was Pink Floyd.
