Great interview! I've long been suspicious of some of the hypotheses coming out of physics world. Speaking as someone with no small amount of math envy, I confess to experiencing a bit of schadenfreude whenever I hear of math(s?) failing to provide all the answers.

Sabine is correct: it is evident that hubris and "social reinforcement" have overwhelmed the unattractive (but necessary) duty of Science to strive to falsify its pet theories.

take this from a person that is working on the next paradigme in physics, in solitude. we have to backtrack all the way to 1900 to make progress with the foundations of quantum mechanics for real, all exsplicit theories are actually wrong. bohmian, many worlds, what ever. all of them are flawed. my framework is much deeper, and has potential to cover all of reality. Sabine is the best communicator out there right now, the most sane person to talk about these things.

Operations Research went through a similar period of self-analysis.. An interesting – and dramatic – manifestation of this debate surfaced within the operations research domain in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Concerned about the increasingly narrowed theoretical and quantitative methodological focus of the discipline, many influential within its ranks, called for a redirected focus toward ‘larger and messier problems’ common to real-world clients. See Jonathon Rosenhead, Custom and Practice, 37 J. OP. RES. SOC. 335, 335-336 (1986). See also, R.L. Ackoff, The future of operations research is past, 30 J. OP. RES. SOC. 93, 93-95 (1979). (Ackoff, levels strong criticism at OR’s divorce from reality and its ‘inbre[d] and introvert[ed]’ and ‘mathematically sophisticated but contextually naïve techniques’ that are less competent analysis than ‘technical perversion’.

Consider if an Alien with millions of iq points and the ability to manipulate reality in ways we cannot even imagine, came down to earth and allowed us to consult with him. why the fuck would anyone have the hubris to think their current thinking encapsulates what the ontological world is like. xD
