I think Avril already told Mod a few times that she wants to break up (before February 2023), but that Mod guy is so persistent and didn't want to lose Avril. Because who wants to lose Avril? When he was still with Avril he always find ways to let people know who he is and that he is dating Avril, even during Avril Lavigne's interview, he'll talk about himself.

And Avril had a bunch of exes, and she always treated her exes good. But something off with Mod, and Mod is trying to play a victim. Just like his last relationship with Tana and the other girl. I think he's very manipulative.
