Myself personally in Canada I have read many Newfoundland stories of this exact scenario. They are out at sea and see a vision in the night of their wives saying goodbye to them and that everything is all right. Very eerie and sad as well,

Lovely arrangement - for some reason I'd always thought that the Lowlands in this song were the Netherlands, but I guess everywhere has lowlands! :)
