On May 18th, 2018, Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, stated that Donald J. Trump, asked him the difference between HPV and HIV. This is alarming because if the president doesn’t know, there is a good chance that a lot of other people don’t either. This is a glowing example of how sex education in this country is failing.
The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) states that HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the entire world. They go as far as to say that every single sexually active person will acquire HPV in their lifetime if they aren’t vaccinated. And HIV is something that we don’t hear a ton about in the news anymore, but it’s still out there and rates continue to climb for some populations.
