Deuteronomy 4:15-5:21 - Skip Heitzig

Every person is hardwired to be a worshiper, but we often worship the wrong things or worship God in the wrong way. In Deuteronomy 4-5, Moses transitioned from reviewing the Israelites' past to offering regulations for their present, touching on true worship and God's character before reviewing the Ten Commandments.

This teaching is from our series 05 Deuteronomy - 2015 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Albuquerque.

❤ Shortly after I began attending a Fantastic Church near my home a couple of years ago, our Pastor taught us the 10 Commandments using a series of "Hand Gestures." I am 67 years old but i LOVE that i now can recite the Commandments in order. When I'm practicing it in the car at Stop Lights I probably look like I'm throwing gang signs or something, LOL!!

Love this ministry. I have been thinking about my desire to understand the Bible in it's whole context. And I love how you break it down telling us where the geographical locations are and more, because it makes reading the Old Testament more mentally comprehendible. I have been able to follow along and actually be able to pull up maps and see for myself what you are talking about. And as someone who didn't like history in school, this is profound for me because it is opening my mind in ways I never thought possible. So sincerely thanks for your ministry. It is changing lives, and making God's Holy Word more understandable to the masses.

Thanks Pastor Skip. Your words remind me of what A.W. Tozer said in one of his sermons. He said that the supreme sin of the human race is that there is “a pervading Presence and we don’t sense it - a calling Voice and we don’t hear it - a shining Light and we don’t see it.” He said that the greatest tragedy in human history is embodied in verse John 1:11 - “He came unto His own but His own did not receive Him.” We can only imagine what the world would be like if everybody received Him.

I can’t picture God but I could picture around him like a bright shining light brighter than anything we’ve ever seen, but never do I picture him just around him if that makes sense

Does having toys for children count as carved images? How does this apply to us today?

What do you picture when you pray/think of God? I always just picture blinding light. The Bible says He is light, so that's what I picture. Just white light.
