Snakes are among the animals considered the most dangerous in the world by humans, and it is even thought that over 3 percent of the world’s population have the phobia of snakes, called Ophidiophobia. Evolved from prehistoric reptiles, these animals have been around for about 100 million years. Today there are over 3 thousand different types of them, with different lengths, some are very fast, some very poisonous and others even deadly constrictors. To face a snake or challenge it you must first have no phobia and then possess a great dose of courage, agility and speed. As in humans, so in dogs, there have been individuals who have the right features to challenge a snake.

Nice. I once had a Nigerian Shepherd Dog, really big. Killing snakes was his hobby. We lived in an isolated area so there were lots of snakes around. Sadly, Max died at 14years old. RiP, Max buddy.

If I had me a snake killing dog I'd name it Rikki-Tikki-Tavi after the famed cobra-killing mongoose of legend.

My 9-1/2 pound papillon killed a foot long Gardner snake yesterday. It was sunning on the back door stoop. Looked over at Dasher, my puppy boy (he’s 2-1/2) and said “snake”. Last summer he’d learned this word and discovered how they flee when pursued. Since the snake was unable to slither under the house, Dash quickly caught it. Thrashed it like a toy, tossing it into the air then picking it up and thrashing it again. I could tell the snake was dead. My pup is one of those that’s always hungry. So I opened the back door reached into his treat container no gave him three to chase into the house. Rather reward him with wholesome food than raw snake meat.

He was fired up the rest of the evening. Running around, reliving the kill with my hand. He’s gente with my hand but sounds ferocious when he play kills. Finally he settled and we slept. Around six I got up to eat a little Turkey deli meat. He got a bite or two cause he’s such a good boy.

Pure breed Fox Terrier, done lots of rabbits and wallabies and countless rats, living on boat now and loves to chew heads off fish. The other day he came across a Red Belly Black snake around five feet in length, latched onto it and shook the sh%t out of it until I yelled enough for him to let go and it managed to slither off, worse for wear. He most likely would have killed it, but I freaked out as I love him so much and just wanted this situation no to happen. A couple of years ago he ran up to a Red Belly Black laying across a dirt track as he got to a few inches of it the snake rose up to eye level with fox as I tried to catch up, and I thought it was about to strike and the end for my best mate, but it turned and raced off while I yelled for foxy to stay, and he did, not chasing after it as I got up to both of them, was surprised at how fast they can move as it took off into the long dried grass roadside. I fear the day if he comes across an Eastern Brown or Death Adder, let alone any other! Point of fact is; I know they can kill snakes, but the opposite happens too, and I don’t want to lose my mate for something so pointless, bad enough when other sh%t happens and we lose our dog/dogs.😮

Love the Airedale Terrier. I have two Airedoodles (Airedale x Standard Poodle) and they go hunting for snakes in their pins all the time. They even know the word snakes. Its fun watching them hunt for snakes when I say "Snakes".

The best dogs for killing snakes would be your little terriers. Renowned for their reflexive speed and bred by farmers for killing rats, mice and other types of rodents.

Don't be rediculous, no dog can kill snake, even the venom of the king cobra, black mamba, viper and rattlesnake is so deadly that it can kill even a giant elephant, and even giant snakes such as pythons and anacondas kill their prey by strangling them, pythons and anacondas are not poisonous but they are big.
