Needle & Thread Exposition in Paris

Day 2 spent at the Aiguille en Fete in Paris, where I was able to speak to a few other artists who were there with their work, as well as spent a bit more time looking at some of the vendors and the things they were selling. It did get a bit dangerous as I kept thinking, well I should purchase some of this, because I'll never see anything like this again!
Enjoy!

Stop by!

After graduating from Parsons School of Design, I began my career in fashion design and freelanced both in New York City, as well as London. I designed hand knits for Elle Magazine and was the editor of the Hand Knit Page before hand knits fell out of fashion in the early 1990's and the page was discontinued. In 2008 I launched my jewelry design business, designing fine jewelry in 18 & 20 Kt Gold with gemstones that I hand select for each piece. Several awards and numerous write ups & interviews in all kinds of magazines and online zines, I rediscovered hand stitching and my life took another turn. I have been designing in some form since I sold my first felt embroidered xmas tree ornaments to a small shop in Northern California when I was 16 years old, and have never looked back. And while I've had detours along the way: had two children, worked at an advertising agency, got into acting in my early 20's, published some articles for various magazines and wrote for the Huffington Post for a few years, I have always come back to designing. It is my first love and remains so to this day.

Hey, you can't go to an expo and not buy anything, it's not how crafter think! You NEEDED the things you bought! What a gorgeous haul you got too!. It's so easy to get into the 'buy zone' and end up with a very heavy exit from your checking account of the green stuff... Thank you for sharing with us your fun.

Your restraint in not buying everything is commendable. I can’t wait to see how you incorporate all the new treasures you did choose into your art.

OH MY. Restraint & discipline would NOT have been two of my virtues at that show. You did well. Those booths with the threads & the fabric & buttons & the ribbons & all of the yummy touchy feely things. I would have been on visual stimulation overload. Thanks for taking us back there with you. What a delight. What a treat. I WOULD like to be there when you pack to come home. LOL LOL LOL Blessings

Oh My Gosh! You NEED that newspaper printed fabric!!!! That video could have gone on for another hour looking at the demos, the fabric, the art, etc. Thank you for showing us what France has to offer. I am living vicariously through you! Continue having fun.

The upside of buying “everything” is that your creative spirit stretches to new materials!! The hmmmm, how can I use that problem is a good one to have…..so glad you went back and filmed the artists not previously filmed as their work is amazing.

*gurgles* …. Fly tying is a needlework. I swear one of the artist used old iron bases as a frame (same shape). Fabric marbling. That one shop with all the fat quarters and vibrant colours … more wooden spools. I know I am not helping when I say I am SO GLAD you bought thread!! Thank you so much for taking us with. So much eye candy and inspiration. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Yes we've all had that panic/feeling 'I won't get the chance to see/buy this again'! All spent far too much - I used to save up before a Show then only spend up to my cash limit and not use a card/cheque - and also just limit myself to what I could carry but at least I wasn't flying home! (I've also taken old shoes and binned them before I packed to return home😄!) However, I think your suitcase will be very full looking at your haul but the paints appear to be already used on your new project and if so what a good way to remember this time in your life🙂 Thanks for a closer look at the Show.

Oh what a lovely time you had. So glad to find I’m not the only one who talks to myself like that at a show…….there comes a point when you just have to leave😢, we shall expect to see it all again in your creations when you get home.😉Enjoy.x

Wow... thanks for going back, even though it ultimately had you spending more money 😄I understand completely. I went to the largest bead and jewelry making supply expo many years ago and it is SO hard not to buy all the pretty things! Thanks for taking us along with you!
