I just finished reading the LN today and i fully agree with everyone, they hollywooded the hell out of this movie and ruined it. For anyone who intends to read the LN and doesn't want to be spoiled, stop reading here...

Plots removed or otherwise altered;
-Tono actually spent 13 years inside the tunnel and remained a 17 year old.
-Anzu (Hanashiro) went after him 5 years later when she was 22 and they both came out together 8 years later as 30 year olds but he was still in his 17 year old body and she was also in her 22 year old body.
-They cut out Kawasaki (The girl Hanashiro punched) who is actually a major character in the book and becomes Hanashiro's best friend in the future and helps teach her about friendship and socializing.
-The ending was more than this, they moved to Tokyo together and he went back to his abandoned house to open his time capsule and he found a letter from his step-father with his new address and number so that he understands that his step-father wants to reconcile with him one day if he ever wants to as well.
-They spent a few years in the tunnel together before getting out because of the distance to the entrance, he didn't pass out in front of the first Tori (entrance).
-The tunnel disappears at the end of the story when they come back with their friends because it (Karen) fulfilled its purpose of letting Tono understand that it's okay to forgive yourself and move on as well as not feel guilty about loving or being loved.
