In the 1990s, inserts were the thing in basketball cards. Collectors eagerly awaited opening a pack to find out what unique insert card they would pull, and when trading with friends, inserts were the highlight of any offer. Eventually, card companies went a little bit crazy with this trend, and eventually it fell out of popularity. But there are still a number of insert sets from the 1990s that are still highly sought be collectors today. In this video, we will take a look at some of the highlights.

I was a graphic designer in the 90’s working at a design studio in Manhattan. I got to design the cut above and the big man on court inserts. Two of my proudest moments.

1993-94 Ultra 🏀 basketball change the game in inserts ! The MJ scoring kings insert is still my fave card of all time!

I enjoyed the style of this video. Educating while learning is perfect and the editing was pretty good as well. Looking forward to watching more videos. ~Matt

Pulled a Jordan Hooperstars out of NBA hoops retail. Still remember that, they were 1:288 I believe.

Could have made a 45 minute video on this topic mate! As the Panini stuff goes into pricing and parallel hyper-drive I find myself delving back into the 90s inserts. Looking back you can see how almost all the innovation in modern day cards came from this era. 90s were innovators not replicators! From the sets mentioned i have a couple of Beam Teams, die cut all-stars, one or two lower tier Cut Aboves, ton of fist year autographics and just the one UD Game Jersey - Antoine Walker - now there's a name from the 90s!

PMG is not an insert. It’s a parallel. Beautiful cards!
