My school has a cheer team and a Pom team, which are literally the same thing, they do all of the same stuff they just sometimes have different uniforms. But they also all have like 3 uniforms each so I never know what’s what

if youre cheering the team on, on the sidelines, with pompoms, you are by definition, cheerleaders. your cheer style might be more dance, while others are more gymnastics inspired, but its still cheerleading 🙃

Guys im on my school’s pom team and yesterday was our first football game, and now i have to admit that we do look like downgraded cheerleaders lmao. Also during our halftime performance OUR MUSIC KEPT RESTARTING so we had to count through the routine and it looked okay but it was scary 😭😭

Y’all are so wrong about this lmaoo😂. This is a Pom team. Schools typically have a Pom team and a cheer team. Pom teams are dancers. They do a form of dance literally called Pom, they also do hip hop. They don’t do stunts like cheer, they do Ariel’s and stuff like that as their tumbling. They don’t do round off hand tucks and fulls like cheer. Their uniforms don’t really look like cheers uniforms because cheer uses two piece uniforms. Cheer uses a shell and a skirt. Both cheer and Pom teams use Pom Pom’s (the things in their hands). They can be similar but it’s easy to tell the difference. The only reason that I think they would be confused from this video is because they are being stiff with their moves. That is typically what cheerleaders do. Usually Poms teams are more flowy with their moves, so that’s why I think they’re getting confused. Also don’t come after me because I think I would know about this if I’m on the varsity cheer team at my school and I have many friends on the Varsity Pom team as well.

idk I just feel like if you look extremely similar to a cheerleader with the outfit and the things in the hands (idk what their called) any person who doesn’t know much about dance would assume this is cheerleading, hence the people in the comments saying “im confused” because this looks like cheerleading minus the lifts and such they do👍🏻

The only reason I can tell the difference is the cheering. Usually, dancers don't speak, they just dance. Spiriting at the end, and tumbling too, but idk if there are some dance teams that do that too.
