What did you think of Twilight at the Curve? Hopefully you counted along and your guess was close.

Best time I ever had at Horseshoe was in the early 90's. I Climbed the steps at about 4 am and it was lightly snowing. Got to the top and just waited in the stunning silence. Eventually, I could hear a train working the hill. This was the days of the old EMD SD-40s and 45s ??. It went from dead silence, followed by growing intensity until the loco's rounded the curve and then slowly went silent again. What a hallowed place to be.

I used to go there when the K-4 was on display back in the 70's, 80's. I've done a lot of railfanning in PA thru the years. Now I'm retired and live right along the tracks of the NS. I've even worked for a railroad for a short time (Northern Central Railroad) tourist line still around in southern PA.

One of my favorite locations to watch trains JP, and the Cajon Pass. I remember the 1993 Southern Pacific derailment, Cajon Pass is very difficult deserving slope for locomotives. I hear the rail roads constantly checking the dynamic Brake, and other functional train operators.

The lighting on the train was cool
I lost count of the horn salutes. I am surprised that there were two trains that didn't give a horn salutes. Poor sports.
The pusher is called a DPU, distributed power unit .
Great video JP! I love night time train videos !

Oh my goodness, the train activity is amazing there! I think the reason you went to Altoona is awesome, what an experience! Twilight at the curve is unbelievable, I think it would be fantastic to see in person! My count was right on, that was fun to do! You guys sure had a great time! Looks like the funicular will be up and running for you next time you go. Love your new shirts and your blanket looks nice and warm, and it's your blue color, perfect for you for sure! "The blanket brothers" love it, so cool and fun! The ending is fantastic! lol What a great video JP, thank you! 💙

Other than Fostoria OH, the Pittsburgh line is the hottest place I’ve been to see a lot of trains.

Truly Enjoyed the Twilight Horseshoe Curve. I live in California and I live right next to a railroad. And there's a light rail track that runs through town and right next to it. The light rail runs until 12a.We get trains day and night. I am used to him I don't even wake up when they blow the horn😊 I enjoy watching the trains. That looks like a great view in the night! 🚂

Growing up in Altoona, I can't tell you how many times I have been to the curve. As a young man it was a place to hang out at night and perhaps drink a few beers. There were no nighttime restrictions back then and now that I think of it, we might be the reason why they have one now. It is a pretty cool place. Thanks for the video.

What an awesome location. The after dark lighting was absolutely amazing. Not sure there is any man made sound greater than a train whistle. If I had active tracks near me, that is where I would most likely spend the majority of my off time. Was really cool. Thanks for the invite. Looking forward to seeing you in the next video. Until then stay safe and God bless.

Thanks for taking us along. That was cool seeing all those trains passing at the same time. I got the count right. I wasn't sure when I moved the one train from no horn to horn because the pusher blew the horn. I hope you have better luck with the funicular the next time you go there.
