Density measurement with a u-tube oscillator
- The sample is filled into the u-tube oscillator which is electronically excited to vibrate at its natural frequency
- The resonant frequency of the u-tube oscillator changes as a function of the density of the filled sample
The ratio of density to resonant frequency examplified with air and water
- The density is determined by measuring the resonant frequency that occurs
- Roughly speaking, the greater the density / mass of the sample, the lower the frequency
- The measuring cell is tempered with high precision to ensure a highly accurate measurement
