The 2014 season saw the Frankenmuth Girls' Track & Field team become the first team ever to win the Double-Crown (MITCA Team State & MHSAA State) 3 times!
A Division 3 team from a small Michigan town, the Frankenmuth Lady Eagles defeated every Division 1 (Largest Schools) team they competed against - five D1 teams twice during the 2014 season!
At the Bay City Western Invitational, Frankenmuth defeated 12 Division 1 schools from across the state to win the Invitational PLUS set two meet records in the process!
The Frankenmuth girls went on to set 5 meet records (more than any team in MITCA history) at the MITCA Team State tournament followed by 4 more state records at MHSAA State Finals - tying the most-records-set-ever by any team in MHSAA history!
After that, Frankenmuth Senior Angie Ritter was named "Ms. Track and Field" - an annual award given to the top athlete in the state in their sport across all divisions!
AT the 2014 D3 MHSAA State finals, the Frankenmuth girls scored the third-highest score ever in all divisions in the history of MHSAA, exceeded only by one team, the Division 1 Ann Arbor Pioneers who twice exceeded the 96 score! Considered by most Detroit-area sports writers to be the best girls' Track & Field team of all time, the Division 1 Ann Arbor Pioneers NEVER won a MITCA Team State title! Never won the Double-Crown!
