I want to thank Dave and all other "I have a problem, let's fix it" guys out there for providing invaluable information to DYIs. I had this exact same problem, followed Dave's instructions to a T. D. He even gave me the link to buy the special screw driver. The repair worked. THANKS!!!

Thank you! This solved the weak air strength on my blower. Easy and cheap 15min fix and saved me from buying a new one.

Amazingly easy fix. I took a few pictures to make sure wires went back where they belong and it was a seamless repair. Thanks for your good work!!

Yes, mine too has a problem and ordered that switch assembly. Waiting for delivery from Amazon. Thank you for your video it made it easy to repair this unit. PS I try to use electric contact cleaner first, didn’t work either.

Worked like a charm for my faulty switch that would not consistently activate the motor. Thanks to you, Dave this was an easy fix and fun project for my 14y old son to do.

That was exactly the problem. Fixed it for less than $30 with the new switch. Thanks so much.

This fixed the weak blower strength issue completely. Great video!

Thanks for the video! My guess is the components can't handle the current over time. Mine is stuck at 75% speed now too. I just ordered the switch from Amazon so one day this week I'll be looking at this video again. It seems straight forward with the hardest part being the task of running the wires through the channels correctly and neatly so nothing pinches.

Thanks for the video. Mine was doing this also. I wasn't convinced the switch was bad. I took a can of WD-40 electrical contact cleaner and sprayed into the hole generously. I pulled the trigger and it started slow but as soon as I pulled it 3 or 4 times it started working normally. Been using it every day for the last 3 weeks.

Thank you very much for this video. My son and I followed along with you and together were able to successfully repair my Ryobi blower for the small cost of the new switch. Great job!

I have looked for this switch and how to replace it for the better morning. Thank you so much my switch was damaged for heat it has melted. For what it's worth you have a new subscriber if you want one. Thank you so much.

Hey Dave, question for you. I found the switch on Amazon, but the black & red wires that are pre-stripped and run the power to the motor when the switch is engaged are really short (only 3-5 inches) which means I'll have to do my own splicing somewhere between the trigger and the battery area because the wires provided don't have enough length. My concern and question for you: Will that reduce the total voltage that reaches the motor because the wires have 2 different splice crimps???? Hope I explained that the right way. Really appreciate your video! -Jason, TX

I had the same problem. A new switch unit was $19.99 on eBay as of Oct 2023.

My Ryobi 18V blower always runs, but not at a consistent speed. It goes for several seconds at high speed, then drops suddenly to a lower speed, then back to high speed. Any answer to this?

I was wanted to just rewire it to use high speed only, but Ryobi uses a voltage doubling circuit built into the switch to make the high speed

yours sounds like it runs full power even with the old switch (?). with mine, with a full trigger depression, the fan just runs really slow, like the battery is wearing out (even with fully charged new battery) same issue?
