English - Welcome to another Schony747 train presentation! What you will see today is some old school shunting, running around of steam locomotives and fantastic arrivals and departures. Stuff you would see in the glory days of steam!

Today the location is Castlemaine at Central Victoria here in Australia. The Goldfields Tourist Railway run trains between this location along the former Victorian Railways branch line to Maldon. Normally it's a straight forward proces. The train from Maldon arrives, the steam engine cuts off the passenger train, runs around the train, hooks up again and then runs back to Maldon.

On this day, steamrail ran an overnight tour to Maldon from Melbourne. With two trains on the same branch line needing to use the Castlemaine platform, lots of shunting an shuffling of trains was required. The semaphore signals were certainly getting a work out!

The branch line is also unique as it has a connection to the main Bendigo to Melbourne train line and there are also views of the steam train transferring from the branch line and onto the mainline to Melbourne.

Steam Locomotives featured - K153, K190 and J549

There is something special about steam engines, wherever they are in the world, living breathing machines that each have their own unique personalities and quirks.

What distance does this steam service cover ? From Castlemaine to wherever ? Love the two coal fired locos and the regular service oil fired loco. All 3 locos look like they were built with Fowler influence (square fireboxes - reminds me of the Brit 4F's & 2P's). Nice video too.

2:37 Geez, Brenden, I hope you were very, very quiet shooting this, you didn't want to wake up the "Sleeping Car"! LOL

Nice video! Why do the steam locos have both buffers and north American couplers?
