I just saw the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once. I recognized the name of the Directing duo, Daniels, but couldn’t place it until Wikipedia mentioned this music video among their earliest works. I witnessed the filming of this video having worked for a now defunct music service Sony once ran that funded it, (Music Unlimited, it’s in the end credit). It was an amazing shoot to watch, the entire thing recorded over a full day and night in a section of woods within Los Angeles’ Griffith Park. All the “indoor” scenes were shot using props setup in the woods and you can see trees and dirt within the frames of what otherwise might look like an indoor environment, (purposely I’m sure, as the natural surroundings adds a level of continuity and mood through the entire video). The Dan’s were really excited about their vision and it’s so cool to see how they have grown into film superstars. Everything Everywhere All At Once is simply phenomenal and unlikely any film I’ve seen before.

This is hands down amongst some of the best music videos I've ever seen. Is no one going to talk about how GREAT that actress is? Such a raw performance, crazy dynamics, I am in total awe. Been a Passion Pit fan since 2013 <3

Its about a girl who is constantly going from rebound relationship to rebound relationship without ever letting herself heal from any of them. Which is why they kept ending until the end where she finally dealt with it all and let go of what she was holding onto.

Guys, this song is about a girl who bounces between many relationships. Some unhealthy, some abusive, and some that she will regret because the guy was actually great. Its about remembering people like ghosts. Ghosts are very commonly symbols for people who you used to know.

My interpretation of this song is that it's about isolation. To me the woman in the video keeps trying to connect with others and forge relationships, both romantic and platonic, but she always seems to fail and is left lonely and heartbroken. Despite this, she is compelled by human nature to continue to try and reach out to others, unfortunately her major flaw is that she is uncomfortable with herself, which leads her down a roller coaster of unhealthy relationships and emotions. She doesn't know that her approach to herself and others is what causing her to continue down a path of rejection, and so she continues to deny herself and try to impress others which ultimately perpetuates her feelings of isolation and love sickness.

2020 anyone? Everytime I go through my bouts of depression(which happen often) I listen to this song. I never really recovered from anxiety and depression from my first deployment. I hate this feeling. Makes me feel broken. It's been 7 years and I still find myself going through debilitating meltdowns. I wish this would stop... My son doesn't deserve to see me like this.

I am legit obsessed.. Ive watched this video & listened to this song every day- multiple times a day since I first heard it a little over a week ago.. Especially with the way the girl moves, and the fact I do the same thing with my hand on my face when Im frazzled.. I feel like a pendulum always coming back to this song- and I LOVE it :)
