As a person who travels the world, Pepsi is actually in more restaurants than Coke while Coke is more sold as individual stuff

well honestly you can't judge the taste because it differs in every country, same as for fast food chains and other products in general. For ex in my country I prefer Coke while in UK I prefer Pepsi.

Blink taste testing actually had an interesting story. Read Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, there's a section where he talks about how blind tasting actually is not effective because it's not just the taste for a while, but the taste of an average to a long time. The ability to drink an entire can and not give up half way.

Restaurants can decide to sell both, however that means neither will sponsor them, sponsoring comes with perks, which I why most restaurants choose one over another.
