Since function compositions are not commutative, you know that the different processes will give different outcomes/results.

How can you tell when you need to add, subtract, divide, or multiply the two functions. I don't understand what circumstances lead to which combination method we should use.

Quick question: how do you write so neatly? Are you using a drawing tablet that has a monitor? I imagine it's easier to write neatly when you can "write" on the screen instead of having to write through a ratio (like writing on a small drawing tablet connected to a big screen).
