Just fyi, the bases for the bottle brush trees are all crochet thread instead of twine, and because they are older they look great with the trees. But my favorite was the IOD paint inlays. Your choice of black images of the trees was especially nice.

I actually have 3 of the silver metal stars that I bought from Hob Lob a few years ago. I intended for them to be little stocking stuffers for my 3 girls, but they have a very industrial look to them. Our guest bedroom is a very feminine blue, so, those stars, painted a pretty silver, strung with white beads on pale blue velvet ribbon, hung on the etagere, would look really pretty. Thank you for the inspiration. I didn't know what I was going to do with them.

I think your tray was an exceptional purchase. I loved its look even before you painted it. I think your sister will love it! I liked the paint inlay trees best though. IOD really hit it out of the park with that one! I picked up a number of crochet thread spools thinking I'd do the same with some bottle brush trees. It turned out that I didn't like the look when I did it. I think it's strange that I like them when someone else makes them. Oh well!

Seems someone happened to my luck! I had to quit crocheting doilies because of arthritis in my hands with swollen, painful joints. Apparently they donated their crochet thread and you found it. What a pretty use you made of the thread with the bottle brush trees, so they’re my favorite.
