We have seen this issue quite a bit..enough to make a video. Like and Sub if you liked it or learned something 😁

This did the trick for me! Thank you!!!! I saw, after taking the laptop apart that the power port had been pushed inside the laptop, so the center pin couldn't make contact. I loosened the screw holding the port, put it where it is supposed to be, then tightened it down as best I could. Hope it holds for a while, but at least now the battery is finally charging!

Thank you so much for this video.. It fixed my problem. My Dell laptop wasn't charging, I searched all over for a solution. I bought a new battery, updated battery drivers but still the problem wouldn't go ..Then I watched this video, and learnt that problem was with the bent pin in the Ac charger. I Straightened it, and its now charging fine. Thanks again!

I posted 11 months ago on here that this video helped me with another Dell computer. Yesterday I completed this repair on my sister's computer that's the same model as the one used in your example. Couldn't have been easier. Part was 6 bucks on Amazon and delivered overnight. I emphasized to my sister that how one plugs in and unplugs the computer goes a long way towards this part lasting. Again, many thanks for this video! And yes, I subscribed 🙂

This addresses one cause but it remains a problem that Dell laptops will randomly not recognize chargers when there is nothing wrong with the charger or the port. Currently have a six month old Dell Precision 5550 with three USB-C ports and it will randomly not recognize any OEM 130W charger plugged into the port - even when it has been working fine, powered down, and restarted the next day with no changes, but then will not recognize the charger. Several reboots over a half hour, moving the charger to different ports, eventually gets it working again. Its been driving me and our IT nuts and is a chronic, ongoing issue with multiple machines in our office.

I have a Dell Vostro 7500 and buying the dc input jack solved the problem. It was not my AC adapter. I bought the input jack on Amazon shipped $11. Could have had it on Ebay for $7.50 shipped but shipping time was excessive 3-4 weeks. DELL sucks telling you its the charger. Thanks for making the video.

Thank you dude for using the microscope. I have the same issue and I’m using my scope to inspect the jack and the charger cable itself. The jack looks messed up on my laptop but the issue I was having was finding a close up video of what it should look like. Then I found your video and bam. All my questions answered

Just bought a new battery only to realize it’s the port in the laptop. Seeing yours I now know the plastic or whatever should be there is gone.

This is a bullchit. If it's making enough contact to run the computer it's good enough to charge too. This is 100% a software issue from Dell. We need a software fix to make it use whatever power is available.

Brilliant, thanks for the hint. The same instructions are actually provided by dell on their homepage, but this was more detailed. As for Germany, purchasing the part directly from Dell was a lot cheaper than bezos portal.

Been having the same issue with del xps 15 9500 i9 which has 130 watt USB charger and already purchased an expensive new charger from dell though there doesn't appear to be any damage to original, fault actually disappeared after the charger was ordered but we kept the new one thinking perhaps it was on its way out, That was a few weeks ago but yesterday problem resurfaced and neither of the chargers worked, then this morning again it works, bios reports healthy battery and recognise that charger is 130w now that its working fine. Very frustrating problem on what was a very expensive laptop thats 20 months old

Bro WTF this is crazy hahah!
So my laptop been acting weird for a long time. Everytime I would connect the charger it would prompt me that there might be some issues with the AC and it's not compatible but I always ignored it. The laptop works pretty fine in daily basis but sometimes there's this problem that it will get stuck in a certain battery percentage. The remedy that worked for me was to take out the battery and put it back again. Then the charging would work fine. So some days ago, there was a power cut and I decided to use the laptop till it was 1%. I charged it back when the electricity came back but as usual there was no charging so I tried to take out the battery and do the same old ritual. Nothing happened. Long story short, I tried every troubleshooting method; also updated the drivers manually that I thought would help and even did the EC reset and nothing helped.
While I watched your video, I tried to adjust my charger pin a little bit and voila! it starts to charge, damn. I don't know what is the main issue here.

The laptop is a second hand one and it pretty much lasts an hour without AC power. I am thinking maybe the seller was having a different adapter and maybe it's something that causes the issue or it's the battery that needs to be replaced.
PS: My model is Dell Latitude E7440

Btw loved your video, keep making helpful contents like these.

Hey you have a great way of teaching — keep it up.

My problem: ac adapter is not detectable, per the diagnostics report, so I imagine that’s a port problem? I just ordered some precision screwdrivers to see if I can release the residual power after dc’ing the battery, and if that doesn’t work I’ll try replacing the port. If that doesn’t work THEN I’ll send it into Dell and pay the ridiculous prices haha

Thought I had already subbed! 😮 So on that Dell, the DC in jack is not soldered to the mobo? Do you perform a battery test after changing the jack? Thank you
