Wow Pete! I have never seen a computer that dusty before. I have heard using an air compressor can blow the capacitors off ... Have you ever seen/had that happen?

my computer is ≈ 7 years old. Cleaned it for the first time last week. One of the boards had a light coating of dust, same for the fans. I thought it would've been worse

I use the same method with cleaning a PC, however I'm going to give some constructive criticism. You should put a rag or a thin piece of material in front of the air compressor hose just in case of water condensation. Hey, it might not happen but I'd rather be safe than sorry. :)

My most used computer is an Acer just like that one! How about using compressed air in a can? I know it has a chemical in it. Could the chemical hurt the mother board and other components in the computer?

blow the power supply from all directions very thoroughly ... when it was an excessive sloker´s PC, the PSU needs to be dissassembled or replaced.

compressor does half of the job. PSU still dirty and there're 10s of dust balls and chunk all over that case.
