Why Is My House So Dusty? | 4 Ways to Fight Dust in Your Home

Показать описание
So what causes a home to be super dusty and what can you do to get ahead of it?
Well, below is a list of four common problems that lead to excess dust in a home.
1. Air Filters
The first, and most likely, the cause of excess dust in your home is due to dirty or cheap HVAC Filters.
If your air filter rarely needs to be changed because it is always clean, that simply means it is not working properly, and the dust particles are slipping through the filter.
2. Leaky Ducts
If your filters aren't the problem, leaky ducts could be the cause of your excess dust.
Leaky ducts not only over-work your HVAC Unit and raise your utility bills, but they could be letting out unfiltered, dusty air into your home causing dust to be spread throughout your house.
3. Humidity Level
Another main cause of dust is the humidity level in your home and outside your home.
Dry climates (inside and out) usually directly relate to the amount of dust in your home. For example, you see a lot of dust in the desert and next to no dust in the rainforest.
4. Flooring
Lastly, the type of flooring in your home may be responsible for the amount of dust that accumulates.
There is no right type of floor, and both hard wood and carpeting have their pros and cons.
For example, research has shown that carpets harbor dust and dust mites, while hardwood flooring is not as likely to do that.
But even though it is gross, it can actually be beneficial when the carpet holds in dust because it allows you to vacuum it up easier.
Hardwood, on the other hand, tends to let dust blow around and back into the air when sweeping, vacuuming, walking, or any other activity that may stir up the air and consequently the dust.
