10 Day Trend – How long will the cold and snow last?

This very cold air is in place for the next coupe of days across the UK, but it will turn milder by next week. The weekend is when we get the switch but the transition is not without further wintry hazards as Alex Deakin explains.

Remember freezing a good few years ago. The roads and paths were like glass. Cars skidded and hit parked cars in our street. I found a wood pigeon on my doorstep covered in frozen rain. Had to gently warm it up and thaw it out, it did recover and fly off a few hours later.

In southern Norway it's been around -10 to -15 for almost 2 weeks now, and snow is deep. Down to minus 20 in the mountains. Next weeks forecast is expected to get us up into plus 5-10 and the sun is starting to shine brightly and to feel warm again in the middle of the days now, can't wait for spring.
